Photographer and Photoshop Artist seeking the fierce and sexy community of darkness who will be fashioned from photograph to digital art for an online novella for my website.... an apocalyptic view of the dark recesses of Los Angeles and those those who inhabit them.

There is no pay, but you will receive a copy of the painting, and in return, I can do shoots for you, if you desire, anytime in the future if you should ever need any... free of charge always, whenever you need for your assistance.

The shoot itself shall be short and on your time. I want you to be comfortable in your own setting that together, we will create.

The Big Apple Convention Summer Sizzler just keeps getting hotter!

Richard Dreyfus, Oscar-winning actor, star of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jaws American Graffitti, The Goodbye Girl, What About Bob, Mr. Hollands Opus, and many, many more, will be a guest of honor at the June 7-8 Big Apple Convention.

But that's not all! Jason Mews (Jay of the Jay and Silent Bob series of movies) and Johnny Brennan, creator of the Jerky Boys and the voice of Mort Goldman from “The Family Guy.” So, who among you wants to so see a Q&A panel with these two guys? Snd in your comments to thebigapplecon@yahoo.com

Our Star Trek roster (previously consisting only of McDowell from “Star Trek: Generations”) has been increased by the lovely addition of Chase Masterson, who played Leeta in “Star Trek: Deep Space 9.”

David Zen Mansley, the voice of Agent Bishop and Darius Dunn on the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles TV cartoon, has been with us the past two conventions and rejoins us. This time he heads up a Turtles contingent that will include Wayne Grayson, the voice of Michaelangelo as well as Joey from Yu-Gi-Oh, last seen at Big Apple in 2005, and Adrian, character designer for the TV cartoon who also has his own rock band. There is a possibility of even more Turtles-connected folks appearing, so stay tuned.

Dark Shadows fans will be pleased to know that Kathryn Leigh Scott, who played Maggie Evans, will be with us. She also adds to our Star Trek lineup, thanks to her role as Nuria in “Start Trek: The Next Generation.”

Other returning guests include Jasmin St. Claire, model, actress, pro wrestler, and host of the DVDzine “Metal's Darkside,” and Monique Dupree, singer and actress known as the first African-American scream queen.

I saw a lot of wonderful costumes at I-Con and NY Comic Con, and I would love to see them all at Captain Zorikh's Costume Contest. The contest at the National Expo was the largest and most spectacular ever, and easily overflowed the space in which it was taking place. This time we have a much bigger space in which to hold our contest, and we are working on certain categories in which to reward our contestants.

desperately need help finding a goth club in Milwaukee, WI

I'm from Detroit, but I will be visiting Green Bay in a week. My GF in Green Bay wants to take me to a club in Milwaukee, but doesn't know the area at all. I haven't been to Milwaukee since I lived in Waukegan ten years ago.

Anyway, she wants to take me to a club she heard was THE goth club for WI. It's called Sanctuary, and I can't find ANYTHING but an address on google maps. Can anyone tell me anything about it? If I can't go there, would Mad Planet on a retro Friday night be a fair second?

I need hair advice.

I'm in a bit of a situation. I know you've probably heard this a thousand times... but... Revlon stopped making the dye that I love. It was in their red hot reds collection and was a nearly black, reddish brown. I've tried a few things since then and can not seem to find anything dark enough. I am actually thinking about going back to black. When I think about it though, I remember all of the problems that go along with it (missing spots, ugly roots, fading, and dullness). I don't know what to do. I want my hair to be as close as I can get it to black, without actually being black... and of course some red would be nice, but if it is just a super dark brown, that would work as well. If black is what I have to do, then I would like a brand that doesn't turn into a dull grey-brown, something that stays shiny (if that is

'm making a film, that will be somewhat explicit in parts. Also, there will be imagery that needs nudity.
I am afraid that I will not be able to cut the content of the movie script, even if I find actors interested .You can e-mail me with rates, photos, questions, etc. If your an actor or actress who has worked in nudity and/or sexual situations, is comfortable with it, and would like to take on a feature narrative film as a major role please e-mail me or show up to the auditions. The two main roles are the ones that require it but there are others. If you would like to be featured in sequences that do not involve the main characters, but are part of dreamlike imagery (that features nudity/partial nudity)you can either show up to the audition, or e-mail me with link to your work. Here is the plot:
Aberrant Behavior, is basically about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction. Who are in a very self destructive relationship, there perfect for each-other except they literally kill each-other by being together. A lot of psycho-sexual/self mutilation-masochism in this one.There's more to it, but that's the basic synopsis.

Keep in mind the budget of this movie will probably stay around 25-35, 000 dollars (already secured), so just warning I can't pay the highest rates

I have a new movie called "Aberrant Behavior" auditioning Sat. 1/19 3:30-6:3- at the Dark Room SF 2263 Mission off of 19th and Mission@ 3:30 - 6:30. (My first movie "the period" came out through Sub Rosa Cinema can be seen/bought at Netflix www.myspace.com/theperiodmovie as well as various other outlets)

I will be hiring for many roles, all ages (over 18) races, sizes, etc. But here are the main characters:
Main Characters:
Victor Muertos: (Mid to late twenties) Half Mexican/Half white (Half latino/half white will probably work). Black hair, down to chin and five o clock shadow. (Flexible though). Tall and thin but not too thin.
Dark, brooding, depressed, prone to long winded sarcastic, cynical rants. Living off the state for mental depression, and addiction, but eventually breaks himself from the state. He hates the state, and normal life in general. He hates almost everything. He is sort of sloppy hipster, slightly emo, slight slight slight goth meets street kid. Light or no body mod, piercings, etc. He eventually lives on the street because of choice.He falls in love with Aiko.

Aiko Zumbi (18-early twenties or look like it) Half Japanese/Half German (or Japanese, or half Japanese/Half white). Shorter than Victor, thin but still slightly curvy.
Street kid with a bit of dark hippie. Has been sexually abused as a child. Prone to violence. Prone to long winded rants, or sometimes just total silence. Dark, cynical, with a very bleak view of life. Body mods, tattoo's, piercings, fine. Dreaded or colored hair fine as well. Actually preffered.
She falls in love with Victor.

Emma May (20's to 30's) Actress must be thin, because character is anorexic. Very fake, superficial, manic laughing. Very self deluded. She doesn't really see her anorexia as a problem, she think she looks great though she's obviously dieing and goes to extremes to keep herself thin. She is always dressed up elegantly and thinks of herself as a proper lady even when doing something grotesque . She is a head executive at a advertising/pr firm that she gets a Victor a brief job at, through meeting him in a class over there mutual addictions. (Brief Nudity /Partial a few times)

Caseworker Joe (30's-40's) Written has hispanic, but open. Larger guy, tall, built like a shed, a bit fat but not flabby fat. Very coarse, to the point, direct "Take no shit" kind of guy. Very normal, buys into the whole big house in the suburbs, good job, etc. He is Victor's Caseworker, and is tired of Victor's Shit, and believes he is not trying to quit. (None)

Glitters- a gay gangster rapper, take everything that's a cliche and horrible about it and flip it so that it's gay (some, will also need male models)

Pedida Muertos-Victors Mother. A nearly catatonic morally apprehensive drug addict who's always sleeping with random guys and ignoring her child (Some nudity/sexual situations can be negotiated to less)

And then random visuals, nudes for some flashback scenes (of some sort of psuedo porn the main characer shot) a girl that Victor sleeps with before he falls in love with Zumbi (requires brief nudity/sexuality) and some body part imagery that will not feature the face of the actor/actress, among other thing

I need before I even start:
Prostethetics/Makeup- There are many parts of my movie that need gore, ghoulish makeup or creating body casts for dreamlike effect (like a scene where they fall onto the ground and break like porcelain blood-paint spraying out of them creating a heart) but most importantly I need someone who can help make someone look anorexic, eye sockets reccessed , hips sticking out, ribs sticking out, shoulder blades, etc. I can't start without this because it's one of the main characters.

Boom-I have someone lined up for operating boom/mixing sound, but I'm not sure he'll always be available. I need someone who has at least some experience in this to help. I have equipment but having (better?) equipment would be great.

Props- It would be great to have someone who can assist in creating edible (or non toxic) chemicals, substances, materials for the main characters to ingest. It would also free me up to think about other things.

Lighting/ Art Department/ Set Design/Decoration/Locations- I need someone who can do a lot without a lot who can work with unusual materials. Who isn't too expensive or I won't be able to afford you. Also may be able to transform other locations into desired location.Things needed for instance underground bomb shelter turned into run down sorta apartment. Abandoned buildings. Offices. Fashion Show. A sewer, where the characters live in and eat off of trash.

Set Decorators/Builders:
Though the majority of the movie will be in real locations. There will be a few sets built, and sets that will be decorated to fit the movie. I am looking for people who have experience building sets (theater experience would be great) on a low budget. Resourcefullness in materials is needed (Meaning you can do a lot with not a lot). Building flats, painting, decorating.

Prosthetics/ Make-Up: Though this is not a gore horror movie. There is quite a few instances of gore. People who have experience in mold making, prostethics, sculpture. etc. would be very helpfull. Also people good at making people looking sickly or malnourished through make-up needed. In addition Emma May, the severe anorexic will need added pieces to protrude her brows and jaw, her ribs, collar bones, hip bones, etc to make herself appear much thinner. Actually a lot of make up needs from simple to complex through out the movie.

Vfx-Compositors- Though this will not be a special effects epic, there will be things needed. Good flashy two animations/composting for some of the fake commercials/promos. Possible fire and underwater animation. Some manipulation of the video -color fluctuations, shrinking an enlarging, simple morph effects, color globules to represent visual aberrations in the characters eye-sight. Some 3-D needed especailly those who are good working with modeling human figures. But mostly more simple 2-D basic 3-D stuff. I may do this myself, but send me a link to your work, and I might hire you for the movie.

Props: I will be doing much of this myself, but may need help in re-creating chemicals, materials, such as drano, soap, dirt, carpet, many other instances through-out the script, to create realistic looking edible (or at least non toxic ) substitutes for the substances they swallow.

Mechanical/Puppetry- Not needed for a lot of the movie. But there is a few scenes with Emma Mays giant snake like tape worm that slithers around. Also a scene where skull bowls start vomiting (have to read script to explain) Could do myself, just seeing if anyone else might be interested.

Lighting Designer: Though I will likely take over this role myself, and a lot of the footage will be shoot in the streets style. There will be a few locations that will be staying in for a long while in the script, and would like good, stylized lighting for maximum creepy effectiveness.

Costume: I already have a few people on board for this, but as this movie ends in a big Valentines Day Fashion Show. I am looking for people who could be commisioned for clothing for that event (and other sequences in the movie as well). Also, previously made pieces could work.

Underwater Camera- Anyone who would like to rent me an underwater camera, or who has experience filming underwater, this is needed for a few sequences.

Boom Mic/ Sound Mixer- I already have someone onboard for this, but never hurts to have a second position, or a backup

Pyro/ Fire Safety/Explosion - This really isn't needed for a lot of the movie. But there is one scenes where a whole room catches on fire (with possible stuntman that catches on fire, I made do this in special effects). There is another scenes where a home-made bomb blows a crack into a wall and makes it crumble. I want these scenes to come off effective and safe.

Security- Not throughout the whole movie, but there will be scenes where I will be filming in potentially dangerous locations, and a climax that will need crowd control

Legal/ Locations- I will probably do this myself, but if anyone has experience in finding or knowing of great locations, or securing permits for locations. I might be interested in working with you.

Production Assistants/Co-Ordinaters (I am sure you know what this means)

Music- I have most of the music worked out. But a band fell out that I really felt I needed for some sequences. If your music is post -rocky, slow core or has that aphex twin meets godspeed you black emperor I may be interested. The kind of bands I'm looking for: Mew, Godspeed you black emperor, Explosions in the sky, Spiritualized, 65 days of static, Sigur Ros. Also in some music Portis-Heady could work.

Gothic Tracksuit?

Okay... so I'm really lame, but, next semester I will be taking some pretty difficult classes. Actually, for the next few years I will be taking difficult classes... Anyway, I will be getting up at the crack of dawn, going to the gym before school, then studying at school all day. I do not intend to be a fashionista (except on the weekends). So, I am looking for something that is comfortable to sit around in all day, while still representing the fact that I am so goth that I bleed black. Does anyone know of an online store that sells all black tracksuits with gothy sayings or pictures? I want to just throw it on, pull my hair up in a bun, throw on some nerd glasses and get to the books.... Is this allowed? Does this fantasy of an easy approach to evil even exist?

Why do so few people admit to being goth?

I'm not sure if it's just common in the area where I live, but I've noticed that the word "goth" seems to have extremely negative connotations in the scene. Here in Knoxville, there's a forum called knoxgothic.com, but ask anyone on the website and they're quick to denounce any connections. They say, "Oh, I like the music and I wear a lot of black and I like the culture in general, but I'm not goth." Another girl on the site said, "I don't think anybody here is stupid enough to actually consider themselves goth."

I've noticed it is becoming more and more common for people to deny their connections to the gothic subculture. Even people I know who dress in head-to-toe black every day, wear corsets, dye their hair black and listen exclusively to bands like Bauhaus all vehemently deny that they're goth. I seem to be one of the only people here in my town who openly admits to being a goth.

Most say that they deny it because they don't like "labels." I don't think it's limiting at all to admit to being part of a group. It would be like saying that because I have my own unique style of bellydancing, I can't call myself a bellydancer. Categorizing something doesn't strip it of its essential qualities. Labelling people doesn't take away the things that make them unique. I think it's foolish to think that everyone is so different and so special that everybody defies basic categorization. There are millions of people in this world. Some of them are goth. Very few of them seem to be able to own up to that fact.

Has anybody else noticed this? It seems like "goth" has become a taboo word, even to those who very obviously fit the bill. I think it would be foolish of me to say I wasn't goth, considering I listen to gothic music, I dress in head-to-toe black every day, I wear victorian-inspired garb including corsets, I wear dark makeup, my house is decorated like a crypt, and I'm naturally drawn to the darker side of life. I think that makes me pretty fucking goth, and I think others who are similar are pretty fucking goth, too.

Looking for a friend

I just joined here today. I`m looking to make friends with those who are like me, hoping this place will have someone who is really interested (seriously) since here seems to be a place where there are people who have at least 1 similarity with me. Um, in particular I`m looking for someone who`s in Maryland so I could have someone I can physically hang out with but over computer is just as fine.

I`ll start by introducing myself, I guess, & whoever is interested in hanging out with me or accepting me as a real friend (not just someone who`ll say "I`ll be your friend!" & then I never hear from again) can introduce yourselves, we can get to know each other & then maybe take it to an im or where ever it leads us.

Ok, basic stuff first:
My real name is Amy ("beloved" fpr those who have interest in what other people`s names mean). I have several nicknames...The first being "DJ Fox", which is the name of my fursona. Yes, I am a furry but not one of those sex-crazed neo-furs. I`m totally against them & avoid sexual things whenever possible. So don`t get the wrong impression of me. Get to know me before passing judgement on me.

My birthday is December 5 1984, so currently I`m 21. & sadly, still live with my parents. I live in Maryland (in case you haven`t guessed that from my earlier paragraph). I have 3 hedgehogs, 1 cat, 1 betta & Im waiting for my guinea pig to be returned to me. The other 3 cats that live here belong to my mother.

As far as music goes, I`ll listen to almost anything. Literally. I like many bands, having a widely varied taste in music. Mostly, I listen to whatever my mood sets on, which changes frequently.

I do have a boyfriend, who lives in Massachusetts, & we`ve had a net relationship for a while. I don`t want to get into too much details on this. But he`s been pushing me to make friends & not be so clingy to him, so that`s a reason why I`m here.

I used to draw a lot but have been in a rut for the past year. I do a lot of writing, mostly with my boyfriend but since he`s been wanting some space, I find it difficult for me to hold interest in writing a story for long by myself. I`m hoping to have it back up before it`s 10th birthday in January.

I was just so interested to know just what you feel about cutting, burning etc as gothic men and women...(.i myself am a 'cutter', if you wish to use the term.)
I, personaly see it as an emotional art.it is rather unfairly emotive too, yet i am not entirely anti nor pro self harm.im simply neutral...do as thou wilt....One of the main beliefs that i deem sacred about cutting etc, is that it does not make you 'goth' and no one should be put into a 'box' due to it i.e.labelled emo, goth, blah blah....

This hard hitting duo based originally out of Dallas sounds like 242/Front Line Assembly but original and locally based out of Austin now and hell of a performance worth seeing. If you are big into Industrial - this is a band to take note of. They will be featuring thier own visualizations in tight sync with thier entire set.

The second band will start around 11:00

Hipnautica as many of you know is typically a solo electronic act by Sky however for this special CD Release Party we will have rare performance featuring two new singers Predictus de Mortume and Pixie, live instrumentation by Inca of Spagirus... and special surprise guest from a popular Industrial Goth Metal band live on Bass Guiitar. Also we will be showcasing new visualizations on a larger screen then ever and a special guest performance by dancer TinkerHell. This fashion show is perfect for any fashionistas that want to get some exposure and show their wears and thier personal style. You do not have to prepare to walk a catwalk - while this might be fun and all. All we are looking for is a small collection of photos from top goth/alternative/industrial models and photographers to showcase in a digital display which will air during the Hipnautica CD release party.

Our ballroom band is the stylish but always dashing ensemble Bangers & Mash. As usual, haunting waltzes dominate the program, but the evening will feature a variety of dance music from across the centuries - from 18th century Baroque country dances to Victorian Viennese waltzes, polkas and mazurkas to early 20th century tango, blues, and fox trot and - even some classic rock and roll swing.

For those preferring dance music of a more modern style, Dracula's Daughter Bar & Discotheque in the downstairs' "Ratskellar" presents non-stop dance music by our DJ's, the dashing Robyn Scott Forbes and the lovely and talented Ariyana. The disco features a no-host (cash) bar and light refreshments for our mortal guests.

Our half-time show in the ballroom is a performance by Le Theatre des Vampires. Not recommended for the faint of heart but highly recommended for fans of the genre!

A friend of mine and I came up with a new word when we went to the beach last Sunday. Gothers. Goths + Surfers (or any beach goer)

While we were at the beach we saw a canopy tent with a skulls and a red swirl design on each side. One of the youngins of the group brought out his guitar (with metal band stickers) and a friend of his (dressed all in black) brought out his black body surfer board... I knew I wasn't the only one :)

When we got back to her place I looked up some stuff just to see what was out there on EBay and on the net in general. I found a black beach ball, Black canopy tents with a variety of designs such as Betty Boop, skulls, pirates, flames and so on...

I would like to see if there are any more of us out there....

Goth skate night- need input on fees- thanks

Hi all, we are getting ready to do the goth roller skating night here in Santa Cruz, and I could really use your input. We are trying to work out how much of a cover to charge. We don’t want it to cost so much that people can’t come, yet we need to make enough to cover our expenses so we can keep doing it. So I need to know how much you all could afford, and what sounds reasonable from your side. The skate rental fee is seven dollars and there is nothing I can do about that (it goes to the rink), the usual club cover for dj’s, flyers, etc. is three dollars. But we’re thinking that ten dollars might be a bit steep for a two and a half hour event. We’ll need money for flier’s, decorations and any staff we have to pay, I’m not confident we can get that with a one dollar cover. But I don’t want to charge so much that people can’t come. I would really appreciate your feedback.

New LARP in Claremont, CA

I am now accepting character applications for a new multi-genre Mind's Eye Theatre LARP Chronicle that I am going to be running in Claremont, CA starting in May. The Chronicle will be set in Germany starting in 1676 and players will be allowed to play Mortals, Vampires, Changelings, or Garou at the start of the Chronicle. If interested, please write me for further details on character creation and starting date and location of the Chronicle. If I have a sufficient player base, I will also be accepting applications for assistant storytellers and narrators.

Tea party

Anyone in the Bay Area or close by interested in having a Black Metal/Goth tea party in the Piedmont cemetary ? I know I could get some hobgobbelins with accordions to play and it would be easy to set up a small camp stove for tea and melting Barbie Doll heads. What do ya think?
